Nieuwe smaken van het nationaal populisme

Het dominante liberalisme en humanisme van de post-1945-orde heeft tradities als de contra-Verlichting lang onder de duim weten te houden. Maar nu het liberalisme steeds meer onder druk komt te staan, lijkt de markt voor thema’s als traditie, identiteit en gemeenschapsdenken te groeien. Afgelopen februari kwamen verschillende rechtse politici bij elkaar in Rome voor een grote conferentie over nationaal-conservatisme, onder wie Thierry Baudet, Viktor Orbán en Marion Maréchal-Le Pen.
