Your menstruation app is telling you not to panic about being pregnant while your body is telling you otherwise. At the same time, your neighbour might be falsely worrying about a predictive algorithm telling them they have decreased rates of fertility. SPUI25 explores the state of FemTech software and asks whether we should be using these apps, or not.

Summer of Algorithmic Love

Are we approaching a summer of algorithmic love? Developments in romantic matchmaking are being fueled by the mundane practice of swiping upon potential partners on dating apps. These apps appear to feed us recommendations of possible lovers, but we are going to dive a level deeper and ask how these recommendations actually interact with our romantic and sexual preferences.

Queerness, Spirituality and Decoloniality in the Indonesian Archipelago

This Spring, SPUI25 in Spe collaborates with De Nieuwe Kerk on the occasion of the latter’s Grote Indonesië Tentoonstelling. During two events, various guest speakers explore pre-colonial, contemporary and decolonial perspectives on Queerness. Following the exhibition and panel discussion hosted by De Nieuwe Kerk, this second edition in SPUI25 revolves around a special film screening of the Indonesian Queer film Dear to Me (2020) by Monica Vanesa Tedja.
