De Staat van de Europese Literatuur 2026: Georgi Gospodinov

Op 7 mei vindt de Staat van de Europese Literatuur plaats met de Bulgaarse schrijver Georgi Gospodinov, winnaar van de International Booker Prize 2023. Hij zal in gesprek gaan over de rol van geschiedenis, herinnering en politiek in de Europese literatuur, over de plaats van de Bulgaarse literatuur in Europa, en over zijn eigen oeuvre.

De Staat van de Europese Literatuur is een jaarlijkse lezing door een vooraanstaande auteur of dichter van internationale faam, over de staat van de literatuur en van Europa vanuit het perspectief van de literatuur. Dit jaar vindt ‘De Staat’ voor de achtste keer plaats.

Georgi Gospodinov is een van de meest vooraanstaande Europese auteurs van dit moment, met een karakteristieke stijl die zowel poëtisch als filosofisch is, maar tegelijkertijd toegankelijk en vol humor en zelfspot. In 2023 won hij de Booker Prize voor zijn roman Schuilplaats voor andere tijden.

De Staat van de Europese Literatuur heeft de vorm van een interview tussen Gospodinov en Margot Dijkgraaf, literair criticus, schrijver en journalist, en Jesse van Amelsvoort, docent Moderne Europese letterkunde.
